Persons with Maine ancestors will wish to consult this scarce account of Maine’s bloodless “war” of February-May 1839 with Great Britain over the state’s contested northeastern frontier known as the Aroostook. Over 10,000 officers and enlisted men were mustered into the state militia during this three-month period, and they are all named in this book.
