Kings County, New York, is today essentially co-extensive with the borough of Brooklyn, the county seat for Kings. This “Register of the Early Settlers of King’s County” is the standard work on the subject, and it is literally crammed with genealogies of the 17th-century pioneers of the county, most of whom were of Dutch, or, to a lesser extent, British, origin. The name index at the back of the volume makes it easy to find any of the 7,500 settlers referred to in the family histories.
